Owl Greetings

For this card I combined three different challenges: Merry Monday, Mojo Monday and The Color Throwdown.  I love the Aviary stamp set and have always wanted to use it in a Christmas card but never have.  I think this owl is just the cutest thing!  I was able to use the Bitty Banners Framelits to cut out my little red flags.  I tried to use a pearl pen to add a little extra pop around the scalloped circle, of course my practice pearls came out nice and the real deal came out like black blobs.  Oh well.

Snowman

The Merry Monday challenge this week is to use a snowman theme and for my card I kept it very simple with a snowman as the focal point.  I can't remember where I got this snowman stamp from but I really like it.  I thought that I would keep it simple by just using Island Indigo with Whisper White.  I also tried to incorporate the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  I found out that my snowman was much bigger than expected and I had to alter the layout a bit.

Happy Birthday Butterfly

Today has been such a busy day, I'm glad it was my day off because I was able to get so many things done.  Here is a card that I made before I got busy, it is a combination of two challenges and five hours later, I now have time to post my card.  With these colors, I wanted to make something spring related and I thought the butterfly would tie in perfectly.

A butter knife went through a pipe...

When I got home, I began to cook eggplant parmesan for dinner and as soon as I had the eggplant cut, pan heated and water boiling, I heard some water trickling... When I looked UNDER the sink water was leaking from the P-Trap.  I called Todd over and he said there is a knife sticking out of the pipe... there was a butter knife sticking through the pipe!  Stupid rental house!!!  It was NOT our knife either.

Todd was attempting to fix it himself when he realized that this was so corroded he couldn't even unthread the pipe so we had to call the emergency hotline.  Lucky for us, the plumber lives in the same town and arrived fairly quickly.  It only took him an hour to fix and replace the pipes and he even left to purchase supplies.  Now we have a new PVC pipe and he asked me to take pictures of the pipe (below) so he could show the property management company.  Not only did we pull out the knife, there was another hole at the back near the wall.  Now we are just waiting to see if the ceiling will fall through in the basement cause who knows how much water has leaked.  Just joking (hopefully).

The nasty rusty part on the far left is where Todd pulled out the butter knife!

So, after the plumber left I made this card.  I loved the colors from the Paper Players challenge this week.  I used the Secret Garden stamp set and framelits to get my flower collage.

PPA 154 Color Challenge

This color challenge seriously challenged me, I struggled to get a good blend going...  I don't know if that even makes sense (that's how bad I'm struggling).  Anyway, I almost gave up on this color challenge and as I sat and stared at my work table I found myself staring at this butterfly that I had made yesterday for another card and decided to not use.  Believe it or not, this little butterfly sparked the idea for this card and now I LOVE IT!

I used the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the Blossom punch to create my butterfly, the body of the butterfly is the also cut from one of the petals that I had cut off and trimmed down, flipped over and inked the edges.  My flowers and leaves are embossed and cut from the Secret Garden stamp set and framelits.

Snow Day!

We have a very handsome red siberian husky named Dakota, this morning he is in his element and loving to pounce in the snow, come and cuddle with us and then run back outside.

I am excited because I got my first snow day and didn't have to go into work, and it's on a Saturday - Woohoo!  So I am taking advantage of my time with my family.  Right now Dakota is the only one who wants to hang out cause it's 7 AM on a Saturday and it's snowing.

Since everyone (by everyone I mean my husband and the dogs) is still sleeping I am in my craft room making cards like a mad woman and loving it.  This card is my combination of the Mojo Monday Sketch and the Color Throwdown color scheme.

I used the Mixed Bunch stamp set and Blossom punch to create my butterfly which I absolutely love!

Merry Christmas... In March

I have so much Christmas stuff that I need to use up.  I keep collecting Christmas goodies and never come close to ever using it up around the Holidays.  I love the concept of the Merry Monday blog challenge and always think I should make Christmas cards but for some reason never have enough time to get to it.  Another thing that I liked about the challenge this week is they had a color inspiration that included River Rock.  I am pretty sure that River Rock is the only color of cardstock that I have never used.  It is so perfect for Christmas!  I couldn't believe it... I felt obligated to enter this challenge just so I could use my River Rock cardstock.  I also realized that I appreciate the coordinating ribbons that Stampin' Up! offers but I am just too cheap to buy ribbon in every color and I will probably give in soon after looking at this card.

Supplies:
Stamp: Holiday Best (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, River Rock (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: VersaMark
Framelits: Bitty Banners (Stampin' Up!)
Extras: Die (Lifestyle Crafts), Embossing Folder (Sizzix), Ribbon (Michaels)

Happy Birthday!

When I saw these colors on the ColourQ I thought they would be very bright and happy colors for a feminine birthday card.  I started out following the sketch from Seize the Birthday.  I guess I got a little sidetracked after I stamped my balloons cause I somehow forgot my rectangles... and kept cutting my white piece the wrong size... then I just gave up and started glueing.  Happy Birthday!

Stampin' Up! Supplies:
Stamp: Party This Way
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Sent With Love DSP
Framelits: Bitty Banners

Happiness Always

I have been sick... sent home from work sick... and all I have done is sleep and watch movies cause I'm tired of sleeping.  I know I'm really sick when I hardly even eat (I am usually always hungry).  I could finally taste food again today but when I went to take a nap after leaving work early this afternoon I just couldn't do it.  I gave in and head into the craft room.

To get the creative juices flowing I made this card.  I feel like it became a little patriotic and 4th of July-ish now that I look at it.  Maybe I could give this to a blue ribbon winner after showing a prize heifer at the fair...

Well, I guess this is my entry for the still addINKtive blog challenge.

Supplies Used:
Stamp: Whimsical Words (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Basic Black (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock: Sent With Love DSP, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)

Baby, Welcome to the World!

Whenever I see yellow and green together for a color challenge I automatically think flowers.  I kept racking my brain trying to pick which flower stamp I wanted to use for the Dynamic Duos color challenge and in the end, I ended up using a baby onesie... go figure.  I used the Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel stamp and cut out the one onesie that came out clean (I have issues using the wheel, I either go crooked or never get a complete and clean image).  I stamped the sentiment and embossed some strips of Garden Green cardstock and  threw it all together.  I felt like there wasn't enough yellow so I placed the green strips on a Daffodil Delight base to make it all pop.

Because I Love You Mom

When I saw the colors from the Color Throwdown Challenge this week I thought they would work perfectly for a Mother's Day card.  They are great spring colors and I absolutely love the combination.  Another thing I am love with... The Deconstructed Sketch.  I love her sketches, they are a little fancy for me but not so intimidating where I can still try to attempt to follow the sketch.

Too many candles on the cake...

I have so busy and tired after work this week that I haven't made any cards all week.  On my day off, I had jury duty and had to go into work for a meeting so I didn't really have a day off.  This evening I rushed home from work because Denver is celebrating 5280 restaurant week where you can purchase a 3+ course meal for two for only $52.80.  I am attempting to take advantage of the deals and visit restaurants that we normally could not afford or venture into.  Since we did not need to leave right away, I opted to make some cards while the hubby caught up on sleep.  This is what I whipped up...
