Season of Joy

For this card I used one of my all time favorite Christmas stamp sets, Season of Joy.  It is one of the few wood block stamp sets that I own.  I incorporated the colors from the colourQ challenge and the sketch from Mojo Monday.  I love the bright colors together, they seem so fresh and modern.

Warm Wishes

It is freezing in Colorado!  I take that back, it is BELOW FREEZING!  I am not used to this weather at all, and I can't wait for some sunshine and some double digit temps.  My heart stops every time I look at the temperature because lately it has been below zero.

I am a huge fan of the Denver Broncos and I am giving away my (season) ticket to the game this weekend because I am dreading the cold weather on Sunday.  I am opting to sit in the house by myself and watch the game in the warmth of my home.

Back to my card, my two favorite colors are purple and gray.  So when I saw the PPA color challenge this week I knew I had to make a card.  I also used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and thought it would be fun to incorporate the image from the Remembering Christmas stamp set.  I embossed the image on Very Vanilla with clear embossing powder to get a fun texture and shimmer and then it all came together.  This may be a first for me, I used the entire stamp set on one card.  I am kind of proud of myself.  I opted to emboss the Elegant Eggplant cardstock with snowflakes so I could participate in the Stampin' Royalty "Snowflakes" challenge this week.

This card is for anyone out there who is freezing as much as I am... WARM WISHES!

Tis the Season!

I love the colors from the Color Throwdown challenge and I combined it with the sketch from Mojo Monday.  I like the simplicity of it all.  One of my friends gave me this stamp set when she moved to Oregon and I haven't used it as much as I would have liked.

We are really getting into the holiday spirit.  My husband and I have the Christmas tree up (and some wrapped gifts under the tree), the Christmas lights outside, stockings above the fireplace and the Christmas Village up.  It is starting to look awesome in our house and this will be our first Christmas here, but not really because we will be celebrating Christmas with my side of the family in Hawaii.

Retrosketches #91

Every year I like to make a few Christmas cards with non-traditional Christmas colors.  Here she is for the year.  I was going through all of my holiday papers that I have stashed away through the years and this paper just popped out and I decided that I had to use it.  I also had some random stamps that I purchased after the holidays last year and I finally got to ink them up.  On the inside of the card I trimmed the tree line of one of the rows of trees and lined it on the bottom of the card.  I based this card off of the sketch from retrosketches.

Unscripted Sketches #232

I am on a holiday card making mission.  I thought I had some cards stashed up for the holiday season but it looks like I only have six.  Not good enough... Here is one of many for the day and I was able to incorporate the sketch from Unscripted Sketches challenge.  I am loving the new stamp set - Christmas Messages.

Party Time Tuesdays #147

I have not entered a PTT challenge in a very long time, maybe even the term of a design team member. So, I decided to make a point to create a card for the latest challenge.  It isn't much and I had a hard time finding these colors but I will say the colors a are very fun.

Thank goodness, I'm back in my craft room!

I have not been in my craft room since the flood in September.  We have been so busy at work that I have been exhausted for the last two months.  I go to work and I come home and sleep.  I think we ate out in the last two months more than ever because we didn't have much food in the house or I left work so late we were too tired to even attempt to cook something.  I've been asked a lot lately what have I been working on and I seriously had nothing new to report.  I decided that it was my mission today to make it back in the craft room and work on some holiday projects and cards.  I ordered some Fall stamps a while back and unpacked them today.  I decided that I needed to break them in and the colors from the colourQ challenge matched my Sweater Weather DSP perfectly so I decided to roll with it.

Fab Friday 26

When I saw all the fall themed cards that the design team had for this color challenge, I decided I wanted to be like Justin and be a rebel.  I opted to make a birthday card.  I absolutely love Henry, from the Henry Says stamp set.  I think he is so adorable.  I hope you like my Henry card as much as I do.

The Paper Players #162

Boulder County, CO is flooding.  I have been working for Boulder County for a little over a year now and they are getting hit so hard.  Some of my coworkers live up in the mountain towns and all the access roads to them have washed away.  I sat in front of the TV yesterday for hours just watching the devastation of the water.  Yesterday I attempted to work from home and didn't get much done because of my limited access to things.  This morning we didn't need to go in again but I am waiting to get called in.  Since I run the hazardous waste facility we are expecting a lot of flooded basements to be cleaned out in the near future when everyone is safe.  I am still freaking out because the road that I used to drive on got completely washed out suddenly and took down three cars with it and they had to rescue a man out of the rapids.

So, in an attempt to keep my mind off of the bad news I made a card.  It is nothing special now that I look at but I know there are a few birthdays coming up in our office and I thought I would get a head start on the birthday cards.

Let's HANG OUT this Halloween

For this Halloween card, I combined the sketch from Mojo Monday with the challenge from Stampin' Royalty to use patterned paper.  I have had a stack of Halloween themed papers on my craft table, which moved to the floor, then back to the table, then back to the floor so I decided I need to use them.  I found some scrap pieces falling out of the edges of the stack so that's what I used.  I had this stamp that I bought a few years ago and never used so I thought I would break it in.  The stamp and the sentiment are so fun.  I stamped the spider several different times trying to find matching colors and ended up paper piecing almost the entire image, the square, the spider, the hat, the candy corn and then the eyes and mouth.

Color Throwdown #258

Today while I was organizing all of my scraps I found these 6"x6" papers that I had never used before. Since the colors seemed pretty close to the colors in the Color Throwdown challenge I thought I would throw together a quick card.  I love the color combination!

Happy Halloween

It seems like everyone is using washi tape lately.  I bought a few rolls of washi tape last year and never really used them.  So when I saw this sketch from Retrosketches, I figured it was about time I busted out my washi.  It looks kind of random but I think it kind of works.  I also experimented with my blender pens today.  I've had these babies probably for a year now and never touched them.  So, I finally broke them in.  They are so cool.  I should probably learn how to color so my images don't look so streaky but I like the pumpkins a lot!  They are so cute.

Supplies:
Stamp: Pumpkin Plaque (Stampendous)
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant (SU)
Cool Tools: Washi (Target), Blender Pens (SU), Twine (The Twinery)

Gently Falling

For this card I combined the color combination from the Pals Paper Arts color challenge and the Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch.  The colors immediately made me think FALL!  So I decided to bust out my only fall themed stamp set, Gently Falling.  I couldn't decide what to use for my accent strip and I remembered that I had bought some burlap at a fabric store for another project so I snipped off a little strip for my card.

Freshly Made Sketches #102

This morning I woke up at 6:30 am.  I was bummed because it is my only day off this week and I was hoping to try to sleep and that didn't work out.  So, I decided to head off to my craft room.  I bought some new containers to organize my scraps and I thought I should finally sift through the bins of scraps that I had been collecting and work out a system.  Of course, I eventually got distracted and needed to make some cards using up the scraps.

PPA 168 - Trick or Treat

I am on a Halloween kick!  When I first saw this sketch I immediately thought flowers.  I made a bunch of cards last week with flowers and showed them to a coworker and she said they looked like they were for old ladies.  It was because of the color choices (from color challenges) not the flowers.  Regardless, I didn't want to make a futty-dutty card.  So, since I had all of my Halloween supplies out I thought I would go with a Halloween theme.  Going with that thought process, I switched to pumpkins.  I thought the Jack of All Trades stamp set would be perfect for my pumpkin theme.  I later realized I don't have to many Halloween sentiments.  I went into the archives and pulled out some wooden stamp sets, I found the Trick or Treat sentiment in a set called Holiday Best, the stamp had never been used.  Believe it or not, I stamped the stems in black ink on a tiny green scrap I had on the table.  It is just dark enough for me to cut out the stem shape.  It's official, the black has died!

Stamp: Jack of All Trades, Holiday Best

Googly Eyes

I saw this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches last week and attempted to make an owl themed card one weeknight.  It didn't turn out as good as I had hoped.  This morning I woke up early and decided to organize my craft room.  We bought our house three months ago and I still have a few boxes tucked away in a few rooms.  My craft room still had four boxes to unpack so I finally took care of them.  Of course I didn't finish putting everything away before I got distracted and decided to make some cards.  I came back to the sketch and decided to go with a Halloween theme.

We were out shopping the other night and every store had Halloween stuff out.  My husband kept saying, "Do people know it's still August?" He just so happens to love Halloween so he spent forever looking at all the Halloween stuff.  He is so goofy.

So, I pull out all of my Halloween stuff... and I am overwhelmed.  Because the hubby likes Halloween, I have apparently stocked up on all crafty things Halloween-y.  I made a witch card using the sketch and when I was done I decided a second grader probably could have been more creative.  So, here it is, take three of my Freshly Made Sketch card.  During this production, I found out that my black ink has died, which is very inconvenient when making Halloween themed cards and a key color is BLACK!

I continued to stamp all of my images in black and then decided that my BOOOO was fading off the paper, I gave in and just colored it in so you could actually read the sentiment.  My husband loves all the eyeballs, I hope you like it too.

Aspen Greetings

My friend bought me this aspen template for my birthday and I have finally decided to break it in.  I didn't really know how to use this template so I just sponged in the image.  I didn't want to cover up the aspens too much and then I found the sketch for CAS(E) this sketch and decided to just stamp a sentiment in the middle and keep it simple.  I kind of like it!

Dynamic Duos #65

This card is inspired by the color challenge from Dynamic Duos this week.  I honestly didn't have any plan when I started to make this card, I just grabbed a piece of cardstock in each color and went from there to get this end result.  I am actually quite please with the result.  I had used the Serene Silhouettes stamp for another card today and then realized that I had used each stamp from that set except this particular image so I decided to break her in.
