Kid's Christmas Card

This is my attempt at a kid's Christmas card.  It's not awesome but I figured kids wouldn't care.  This is something I whipped up in less than 5 minutes.  I had saved these green tabs (from Bud Light Lime cans while tailgating at the Denver Bronco's football games).  I am that person that incorporates tailgating into my crafts!  This is what I came up with, super simple.

Black & Gold Snowflake

This card is my attempt at incorporating three challenges into one creation!  I love it!  I embossed the snowflake and used the blossom punch to cut it out perfectly.  I used a snowflake embossing folder to create the snowflake background and layered it all on some glitter paper that is practically chipboard.

I even used the Dynamic Duos Dessert option and put some music washi tape inside the card.  It isn't anything special so I didn't take a picture.

Supplies:
Stamp: Snowflake (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock: Basic Black (Stampin' Up!), Gold Glitter (Recollections)
Tools: Snowflake Embossing Folder; Texture Boutique; Blossom Punch (Stampin' Up!), Pirate Gold Embossing Powder (Stamp-n-Stuff); Permanent Adhesive (Xyron); Snail Adhesive (Stampin' Up!), Dimensionals (Stampin' Up!)

Come to Bethlehem - CTD #222

I ran out of Christmas cards to send out to friends and family!  I am working on whipping up some cute Christmas cards and enter a few challenges at the same time.  When I saw the color combination at the Color Throwdown, I knew immediately that I wanted to use the Come to Bethlehem stamp set.  I have had it for a while now but never broke it in.

I didn't have these exact colors so I used Bordering Blue, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point.  I really like my focal point with the sponged colors and the embossed image.  I messed around with the card and I settled for this.  I am not in love with it but it works...

Supplies:
Stamp: Come to Bethlehem (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Bordering Blue, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock: Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black (Stampin' Up!)

Peacock Christmas

My Mom has a peacock themed Christmas tree.  It is actually really cool looking.  I am on a mission every Christmas to find her cool ornaments to add to her collection.  My other mission this season is to make Christmas cards for all of the challenges I enter (at least until I have mailed all of the Christmas cards out, I am about 70% done).  When I saw the Mojo Monday sketch I couldn't think of a Christmas stamp that I wanted to use.  Then I had a light bulb moment and decided to use this beautiful peacock stamp that was still brand new in the package to make a card for my Mom.

colourQ Snowman

I have recently discovered the colourQ challenge blog.  I have stumbled upon other blogs who have entered their challenges but I never thought to enter myself.  This is what I whipped up.  I tried to use the colors below and came pretty close.  I used real red and regal rose cardstock.  I found some green scraps that looks "gloriously green" and instead of cool caribbean I opted for tempting turquoise.

Christmas Decorating

Yesterday I left work early (because I worked too many hours) and came home just in time to help Todd hang up the Christmas lights.  We took a little break for dinner and some Christmas shopping and then came home at about 9:30 PM and decorated the Christmas tree.  So, to round up all of our Christmas decorating, here is my most recent Christmas card.

The colors are inspired by a new color challenge that I found, Color Throwdown.  The colors I used are Basic Gray, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise.  I really like the combination.

Supplies:
Stamp: Christmas Memories: CMS 118 (Stampers Anonymous: Tim Holtz Collection)
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Tempting Turquoise (Stampin' Up!)
Bling: Basic Rhinestones (Stampin' Up!)
Embossing Folder: ZigZag (Lifestyle Crafts)

Midnight Muse Mojo

I created this card with two blog challenges in mind: Mojo Monday Sketch and Dynamic Duos Midnight Muse and Silver [bling].  Apparently, I do not own much silver.  I attempted to use as much glitter as possible to make it silver-y but it is very difficult to see in this picture.  I need a good camera for Christmas!!!

What I did... I used an embossing folder to emboss some white cardstock and I also embossed the sentiment with Heat and Stick Powder and added some glitter.  I stamped the ornament in midnight muse and cut it out using the Framelits.  I also used the ornament piercing pack on midnight muse to add an extra dimension.  I added some rhinestone bling to the ornament and also the open space on the bottom of the card.  I feel like I followed the sketch fairly well and am getting better at working out the dimensions.

Supplies:

Stamps: Ornament Keepsakes, More Merry Messages (Stampin’ Up!)
Ink: Midnight Muse (Stampin’ Up!)
Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Whisper White (Stampin’ Up!); Glitter Cardstock (My Stash)
Tools: Big Shot & Embossing Folder (Sizzix), Framelits: Holiday Ornaments, Festive Paper Piercing Pack, Paper Piercer (Stampin’ Up!)
Embellishments: Midnight Muse Satin Stitched Ribbon; Jewels Basic Rhinestones - small and large, Heat and Stick Powder (Stampin’ Up!); Glitter (My Stash)

Red, Chocolate Brown & Kraft

After my weekend of Black Friday deals and shopping I am finally home and pooped.  I need to start working on Christmas cards and sending them out.  I received my first Christmas card in the mail today.  What better than to enter a challenge?

Here it is, quick, clean and simple.  I heat embossed my Santa image and ran the chocolate brown paper through my Texture Boutique.  I think the most difficult part was poking the holes around the Santa, oh, and tying the bow...  I suck at tying bows.

Supplies:
Stamp: Yuletide Montage (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock:  Scraps from my stash.
Embossing Powder: Red Tinsel (Stampendous)
Rub-On: Merry Christmas Duplicate Rub-Ons (Pebbles Inc.)
Button/ Twine: My Stash
Tools: Texture Boutique + Embossing Folder; Paper Piercer (Stampin' Up!)

Thanksgiving Card

The Party Time Tuesday Challenge #94 is a Thanksgiving card.  I wanted to have something very simple.  I used three different leaves from the Falling Gently stamp set.  I inked the first leaf in Summer Starfruit and Lucky Limeade and stamped it several times.  I then stamped the other leaves on Summer Starfruit cardstock and cut them out.  I then threw it all together with some twine.

Supplies:
Stamp: Falling Gently (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Lucky Limeade, Summer Starfruit (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Summer Starfruit (Stampin' Up!)

Masking Christmas Cards

On Black Tie Friday's the challenge is masking.  My personal challenge is to make a Christmas/Holiday card for the remainder of the year when entering a challenge.  Initially, I started off with the blue card and was using the post-it masking technique with embossing.  I really liked the gold wording through the white trees.  Then I decided to add some snowflakes using heat and stick powder.  I couldn't decide whether I should use white flock or glitter... so, I did both.  It didn't look too good.  The glitter seemed to look a little better.  So, I re-stamped the snowflakes on another piece of paper and added only glitter.  It looked great.  Then I thought, what if I re-heat the other snowflakes and just add glitter (I didn't want my trees and sentiment to go to waste).  Well, as I was re-heating I realized I was burning what little flock was left.  I added glitter anyway!  In the end, I have brown, glitter, blue, and flock snowflakes.  I still kind of like it but it's not amazing...  Then I realized, you can hardly tell I did any masking.  I went through all the effort to cut out around the trees and around the words for my mask.

So, I decided to make another card to show masking.  I was stumped.  The first idea came so quickly and the second, I had to look around the room a bit for some inspiration.  I decided I wanted to mask some clouds...  Then I didn't know what to put with them.  I wanted to do an owl but with what????  I finally ended up with trees.  By this point I decided to just punch them out instead of stamping.  So, I masked the clouds with a scallop circle and ink.  Ripped up some glitter paper for drifts of snow and I punched out the trees using the pennant punch.  Add a little rub-on for a sentiment and I'm finally done!

I am masked out!  Now the next challenge, decide who should receive this cards for Christmas...

Stampin' Up! has a single stamps promotion.  I love it, so does my Mom!  She bought 11 single stamps!  This snowflake is one of those new single stamps.  I also love that it coordinates with the blossom punch.  So, in an attempt to finally begin using my single stamps I used the Mojo Monday Sketch and Dynamic Duos color combination.

Supplies:
Stamps: Snowflake and More Merry Messages (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand, Real Red instead of Cherry Cobbler (Stampin' Up!)

Poinsettia - Black Tie Friday #8

I have decided that I should try to do as many Christmas cards as possible when doing card challenges. So, this week it was pick a one item from each row.  I may have got a bit confused and picked one item from each column.  Tomato, tomAto right?  Here were the options.

I chose: rectangle base, flowers, and green.  I used a poinsettia stamp from the Holly Berry House.  I stamped and embossed several images and then cut them out by layers to create a 3-D effect.  I used some ribbon for leaves.  Not quite sure if I love it, but it works.

Supplies:
Stamp: Poinsettia (Holly Berry House - Colorado Springs), More Merry Messages (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock: Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green
Ribbon: Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon
Gold Embossing Powder (Holly Berry House - Colorado Springs)

My Stache

I didn't really jump on the mustache bandwagon until recently.  The more I see them, the more I like them.  I finally figured out how to use my Silhouette today... I ordered this back in June or July, got it last month and I have been too "busy" to figure it out and play with it.  I got some mustache files off of the Silhouette website and made my first project.  I love it!  I know, I don't really have much of a "stash" because I think it is still packed.  These are the few random coins I've found around the house.  I've had this project in the back of my mind for a while and the coins were actually already in the jar, just needed its "stache."  This thing is cracking me up even as I write this (I'm such a dork!).  Luckily vinyl is very forgiving, I know the letters aren't perfectly straight but it was as good as I could get it free-handed.  I bought transfer paper to help with moving vinyl a while back.  Today when I opened the package I realized I bought tracing paper... not helpful.

Supplies:
Machine: Silhouette (to cut vinyl)
Vinyl: Pick Your Plum
Jar: Ikea
Money: Probably Todd's

Mojo Monday - 266

So, I have an hour to make a card and post it!  Meeting the hubs for lunch and finally get to see where he works.  He's only been there a year and a half!  So, I attempted to follow the sketch from Mojo Monday.  I realized that I am not very good and guess-timating sizes.  My orange (pumpkin pie) piece definitely needs to be smaller and my purple (raspberry ripple) should be longer.  The green (lucky limeade) strip was bigger but I had to cut it down to fit...  Ugh, hopefully I will get better as I continue with more challenges.  I wanted to add a sentiment to my little banner but it was so tiny, I couldn't find anything that would fit.  Oh, well.  This is what happens in a time crunch...

Supplies Used:
Stamp: Four Seasons (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock: Kraft (Bazzill), Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple, Pumpkin Pie, Lucky Limeade (Stampin' Up!)

I MUSTACHE You About An Ink-Redible Deal...

So, it's that time of year for No Shave November (and corny one word, one liners) ... which oddly enough was my inspiration for my blog facelift.  Todd, told me a couple weeks ago that he wanted to be on a TV show about awesome beards.  So, it's safe to say that Todd will gladly be participating in No Shave November.  Mustaches are the in thing right now and I really want to do some projects with them.  I need to make a card with them!!!  Maybe I can get Todd to help me out if they involve mustaches.  We shall see what comes of this mustache trend...  it will be so, Ink-redible.  Which brings me to my next topic, INK!  Stamp pads to be more specific.

Stampin' Up! is having an Ink-Redible promotion, if you spend $450 or host a workshop that earns $450 you will receive a free set of Classic Stamp Pads (Brights, Regals, or Subtles) - a $49.95 value!  Also, the free ink pads will be in addition to any hostess benefits that you receive.

    Damask Christmas Card

So, since I missed the challenge for Black Tie Fridays this past week; I was committed to entering the challenge this week.  When I got home from work today the hubby was taking a nap so I took advantage of the situation and decided to make a card for the new challenge that came out today.  So, I looked it up and Challenge #6 is Black and Brown with 3-D Inside.  Jeez, that's quite the challenge.  I had been wanting to experiment with some new Stampin' Up! materials that I had bought recently so I did.  I used the Ornaments Keepsakes stamp set along with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits to cut out the ornaments.  On the front of the card I attempted to fade from black to light brown with the layers (it's kind of hard to tell).  On the inside of the card I used four ornaments that I cut out, folded them in half and glued them all together for a "3-D Effect."  So, here goes... Black and brown card front with a 3-D Ornament inside!

    Supplies:
Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Whisper White, Basic Black, Soft Suede
Stamp Set: Stampin' Up! Ornament Keepsakes and Season of Joy, Ditto Damask
       Framelits: Stampin' Up! Holiday Ornaments

    Halloween Challenges.

I made this card in an attempt to complete a couple of challenges.  The color inspiration is from Party Time Tuesdays and the starburst design is from Black Tie Fridays.  I have been crazy busy this week and haven't had much time to craft at all.  I decided that I had to get into the craft room and whip this up because I would miss out on the challenges.  So, all of the paper are scraps.  The stamp is Stampendous and I bought it last year but never used it so it was finally time to bust it out of its original packaging.

    Challenges I've Entered:
    Party Time Tuesdays - PTT#90
Fab N Funky - Orange, Black and Choice!
    Crazy4Challenges - C4C159
I meant to enter the Black Tie Friday Challenge for the Starburst but I missed it... Boo.

    Mojo Monday 262

I entered my first challenge!  Today I made a Halloween themed card for the Mojo Monday 262 Challenge.  I used a hodgepodge of supplies that I had collected throughout the years.  I used the witch and spider stamps from the Googly Ghouls stamp set and the cauldron and Happy Halloween stamps from the Toxic Treats stamp set both are from Stampin' Up!  Solid cardstock: Basic Black and Lucky Limeade from Stampin' Up!  Other Halloween paper from some random themed set I bought a couple years ago.  Charcoal twine from The Twinery.

    Moving = No Crafting

I decided that would start to try some challenges that are floating around the crafty internet world.  I subscribed to Mojo Monday and they have been e-mailing me a challenge every week.  I made this card the first week and I attempted to make a blog post but it never worked out.  Then life got crazy busy with moving and packing and unpacking.  So, here it finally is Mojo 200 something.

Christmas at the END of July

O Christmas Tree...  Here is one of the many Christmas stamps that I bought from the after Christmas clearance sales.  I embossed some Whisper White paper and inked the edges to help it pop out a little.  I am loving the different textures in cards, but I am really trying to not have such poofy cards because they are impossible to stick in an envelope and a pain in the butt to mail (normally).  I don't have the patience to stand in line at the post office, especially at Christmas time.

    Happy Anniversary Jerry & Jennifer!

So, my coworker Jerry apparently forgot his wedding anniversary last year.  His 10 year anniversary...  Luckily, so did his wife.  This year that we decided we would not let him forget his anniversary so I made him some cards and he has already ordered the flowers and he is going to surprise her at work by making an appearance.  Guarantee he won't be in the dog house this anniversary.  Happy 11th to the happy couple!!!

When I was trying to think of ideas for the anniversary card I tried to get some clues from Jerry.  What is her favorite color?  What were your wedding colors?  What are her favorite flowers?  Typical husband, he doesn't know the answers.  So, his wife gets my favorite colors.  I have a lot of purple stuff so it is easy to make a bunch of stuff in that color scheme.  My original plan was to make the card with all the flowers but I initially could not find the stamps because my craft room is organized.  By organized I mean the room looks fabulous and clean but I have the faintest idea of where to find anything when I need it.  (Like trying to find the manual to my sewing machine when I finally decide to actually sew something.)  So, back to stamps, I made the first card with the three strips of embossed purple cardstock and the fancy flower.  I don't have any "anniversary" stamps so I went with a love you, thinking of you, celebrate love sort of theme.  Then I just went into making random stuff that could possibly work.  Pretty much just winging it...  I think Jerry is planning to give his wife the card with the flowers.  I hope you like my anniversary cards and most of all I hope Jennifer likes it.

    Hello

Well hello there, this simple card used a little bit of everything.  Embossing folder that I ran through my Texture Boutique, a design punch to make the circles on the bottom and circle punches for the main part of the card.  The owl is from the Stampin' Up Aviary set.  The "hello" is from a Doodlebug stamp set that is now on sale at Michaels for $3.99.  Of course, I bought it at Archivers for $15.99 a couple months ago.  I hope you have a good day!
